NATICK: Mary J. Cunniff, age 75, a longtime Natick resident and retired elementary school teacher, died on Saturday, November 14, 2015, after a long illness. Daughter of the late Richard J. and Margaret A. (Curtis) Cunniff, she was a graduate of Saint Peters School in Saratoga, NY, and continued her education at Boston State Teachers’ College earning both Bachelor and Master’s Degrees. Miss Cunniff taught second grade classes in Natick for 39 years, initially at the East School and then at Bennett-Hemenway, until her 2001 retirement. Devoted to a close circle of friends, Miss Cunniff enjoyed theater, travel, and reading. She is survived by her brother, Patrick Cunniff and his wife Ellen of No. Kingstown, RI, three sisters, Meg Cunniff of Merrimack, NH, Ellen Cunniff of Billerica, and Kathy Spivey of Mt. Laurel, NJ; her nieces and nephews, Patrick Cunniff, Jr. and his wife Katie of Athens, GA, Colleen Hall and her husband Brian of No. Kingstown, RI, Kerrie Colleran and her husband Brian of Fort Myers, FL, Ellen Spivey of So. Brunswick, NJ, and Robert Spivey and his wife Aimee of New York City; and her grandnieces and nephews, Casidy, Tim, Jacob, Aubrey, and Aidan. Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Monday November 23rd at 9:00AM with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick at 10:00AM. Visiting hours will be Sunday 2 – 5PM.

Anesthesia Department; 77 TEWKSBURY – Mrs. Patricia Mary (Carline) DiBiase, age 77, a well known resident of Tewksbury for over five decades, died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 22, at Life Care of Merrimack Valley in North Billerica, surrounded by her family, after a courageous five year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was the beloved wife of Cosmo J. “Cosie” DiBiase, with whom she had celebrated a 57th wedding anniversary this past November 21st. Pat was born in Salem, Mass., a daughter of the late Charles and Ellen “Nellie” (Cardinal) Carline, and was raised in Billerica. She graduated from the Howe High School with the Class of 1956. Pat and Cosie raised their family in Tewksbury, and summered on the Nubble at York Beach. They moved to York, Maine, in 2000 after her retirement from Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was the education coordinator for the Anesthesia Department. Besides her husband she leaves a son, A. Joseph and his wife Joanna DiBiase of Newburyport; a daughter, Patricia M. Connors and her husband Robert of Tewksbury; three beloved grandchildren, Julia DiBiase, Caterina DiBiase and Robert Connors Jr.; a sister, Eleanor Andrews of Hampton Beach, NH; a brother, Charles Carline of Seabrook, NH; a brother-in-law, Raymond Campbell who was husband of her sister, the late Elizabeth “Bette” Campbell; many nieces and nephews; and was also predeceased by her brother Joseph Carline. Thomas E. Gately, Jr. of Woburn formerly of Wilmington passed away peacefully in his home, January 9, 2016, one day shy of his 65th birthday, following a three year courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Charlene R. (Janerico) and together they shared nearly 45 years of marriage. Born in Woburn he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Theresa P. (Flaherty) Gately

Tom was born and raised in Woburn and attended St. Charles Grammar School and was a 1968 graduate of Woburn High School. He served for six years with the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Tom was a talented automotive mechanic by trade. For many years prior to his retirement he taught his craft as a vocational teacher at Shawsheen Tech, Wakefield Vocational High School and at Everett High School. He loved to teach and share his knowledge with his students.

Tom was a real hands-on kind of guy and loved fixing things himself. There was no job to big or small for him to tackle. Mostly devoted to his loving family, Tom enjoyed and cherished spending time with his wife and children. He especially cherished his role as a grandfather and was great with the kids. He will be sadly missed. Tom also enjoyed reading and traveling. Together with his beloved wife, Charlene, they enjoyed going on many cruises over the years and taking trips to Aruba and Bermuda.

Tom is survived by his wife and their children; Charlene Gately, Melissa Henry and her husband Dwayne, all of Woburn, Krisinda D’Allesandro and her husband Vinny, and Thomas Gately, all of Billerica. He was the loving grandfather of Scott Davis, Amanda Ganley, Adam Murphy, Megan Ganley, Chad Murphy and Chaveah Gately. Brother of Theresa DaCosta and her husband Anthony of Woburn, and the late Robert Gately. He is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, January 14th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from 3 thru 7 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Robert Cunningham Korean War Air Force Veteran TEWKSBURY: Robert Cunningham, age 82, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 12 years, formerly of Billerica, passed away at the West Roxbury V.A. Medical Center on Thursday, January 14, 2016. He was the much loved husband of the late Louise (Powers) Cunningham. Born in Medford on August 22, 1933, he was the son of the late Henry Cunningham and the late Grace (Adam) Cunningham. Robert was raised in Medford, attended Medford schools, and graduated from Medford High School. In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was awarded several decorations for his active duty service including the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Occupation of Germany Medal. Robert worked for 36 years at Wang Laboratories in Lowell as the Director of Shows and Events until retiring in 1995. Following his years at Wang, he worked at the O’Connor Hardwar Store in Billerica for 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, traveling, vacationing in Maine and camping. He is survived by five children, Karen-Anne Tenney and her husband David, Diane M. Cunnigham and her partner Laura Fillinger, Elaine M. Tellier, Karen A. Manning and her husband Theodore, Susan R. Melanson and her husband Joseph. He also leaves eleven grandchildren. Robert was the father of the late Harold “Joseph” LeClair, III and was pre-deceased by two brothers and one sister. Calling hours are Sunday, Jan. 17, from 4-7 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Prayer services will be held Monday, Jan. 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. John J. Pittorino of Medford passed away on Wednesday, February 10th. He was 39. A life-long Medford resident, John was a member of Medford High class of 1994, where he was a member of the varsity baseball team. John worked in the construction industry. He was a proud father who was devoted to his family and friends. He was a loving fiancee to Kristen Pero and a loving and proud father to John J. Pittorino, Jr. The cherished son of Felix John Pittorino and Linda M. (Frankini), he was dear brother of Lisa Cianci and her husband Bob of Billerica, Carla Frost and her husband Scott of Sharon and LiLi Cianci of Medford. He was a loving uncle to Michael and Marc Cianci and the dear grandson of Norma Monaco, the late Rino Frankini and the late Angelo and Mary Pittorino. He also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins. Filomena J. (Moscone) McInnis, age 92, of Winchester, formerly of Billerica and East Boston, passed away on Feb. 22, 2016, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife for 47 years of Alfred J. McInnis, until his passing in 2000. Mrs. McInnis was born in the North End of Boston, and raised in East Boston. A homemaker, Mrs. McInnis loved being around her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She loved taking care of them, and her daughters remembered how she enjoyed shoveling snow and raking leaves, and would often widen the skinny paths that they had shoveled after a snowstorm. Filomena was the loving mother of Cheryl Chiuccariello and her husband Mario, and Jean Fox, all of Winchester. She was also the devoted grandmother of Mario, Michael and Michaela Chiuccariello, and Erik Fox, and is further survived by a great-grandson, Mario Enzo Chiuccariello. One of fifteen children, she was the dear sister of Anna, Carol, Anthony and Michael, and the late Johnny, Nelson, Joseph, Fred, Eugene, Kenneth, Paul, Lucy, Frieda and Eleanor. Franklin Delano Roosevelt DiTroia, a 27 year resident of Moultonborough, NH, formerly of Medford, MA, passed from this earth on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Lakes Region General Hosp. in Laconia, NH, at the age of 82 from heart disease. Born in Boston, he was the only son of the late Peter and Mary C. “Millie” (DiBello) DiTroia. Surrounded by 6 sisters who he so loved and adored, and always said “he was never spoiled”. Frank was raised on Lapham St. in Medford and would have graduated in 1952 but chose to enlist in 1951 and proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict (DAV), earning his GED and honorably discharged in 1955. Frank worked in the electronics field for many years but his proudest accomplishment was with the USPS as a mailhandler in South Boston, working thru the ranks and retiring in 1999 as Postmaster in the North Sandwich, NH, Post Office. After retirement, he drove school bus in Moultonborough part-time for field trips and sports events until he developed macular degeneration and sadly had to give up driving altogether in 2006. Frank loved his Boston Bruins so much he would even sometimes watch the taped game again later that night and always had that pained expression on his face when Rask was in net. He is survived by his loved “wife” Patricia Bourque of 39 years, his son, Frank S. DiTroia, of Billerica MA, his step-son Steve Carbone (Lori), of Wilmington MA, his beloved step-daughter, Sheryl McCarthy (Kevin), of Moultonborough NH, his grandchildren, who he was so proud of and were special to him, Alyssa McCarthy and Garrett McCarthy of Moultonborough NH, Damien and Jaxon Carbone of Wilmington MA and Lorene DiTroia of No. Reading MA. His beloved sisters and brother-in-law, Norma Flener (and her late husband Lendron) of Winchester MA, Mildred Corrado (and her late husband Gerard), of Stoneham, MA and Judith and John DeBilio, of The Villages FL, including many many nieces, nephews and cousins who he loved very much. Frank was predeceased by his sisters, Anna (and Angelo) DeFlumeri, Marie (and Sal) Ciaccio, Elizabeth (Snooky) Piercy, and his beloved daughter, Lorene N. DiTroia by accident in 1979. A Funeral service will be held at the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main Street, Medford MA at 7 PM on Wednesday, March 9th. Visiting hours 3 to 7 PM prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date. Geno Cognata passed away peacefully at home on Saturday morning. He was 88. Born Giacinto but known as Geno, he was born and raised in Boston’s North End, the son of the late Salvatore and Francesca (Indelicato) Cognata. Geno worked for many years as a bartender at the famed Stella’s Restaurant in Boston’s North End. A Medford resident since 1956, Geno worked for several years, after Stella’s closing, as a toll collector for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. He was once recognized as Toll Collector of the year. He and his beloved wife enjoyed winters in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The beloved husband of the late Jennie (Taromino) “Jennie Doll”, he was a devoted father to Salvatore Cognata and his wife Paula of Billerica, Gus Cognata and his wife Maureen of Malden, Frances Ciampaglia and her husband Charlie of Medford and Gene Cognata and his long-time companion Betty of Marlboro. He was a loving grandfather to Salvatore, Jr., Mellisa, Lori, Andrea, John, Kristen, Gus M. and Kevin as well as a loving great-grandfather to Dante, Matteo, Giacinto, Vincenza, Antonia, Mckenzie, Madison and Gabriella. The dear brother of the late Tony Cognata, Annie Milito, Jennie Lemmi, Mary Esposito, Antonette Battersby, Josephine Kiminsky and Helen Tramonte, he leaves many dear nieces and nephews. His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, March 17th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. …Office Mgr. at Atronix in Billerica; 64 TEWKSBURY – Mrs. Katherine Marie “Kathy” (Seymour) Favreau, age 64, died peacefully on March 17, surrounded by her beloved family, at Lowell General Hospital, after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Ronald R. Favreau, who died in 1997. Kathy was born in Hartford, CT, one of three children of the late Richard F. and Eleanor K. (Mayoros) Seymour, and was raised in Tewksbury. She attended St. William’s parochial school, and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School. She was a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, a communicant of St. William’s Church, and served as the office manager for Atronix Co., in Billerica until her illness disabled her career. As she raised her two sons, she was active in Tewksbury school P.A.C.’s and the Tewksbury Youth Baseball and Youth Hockey programs. She was remembered as having devoted her life to her family. She leaves her two sons, Derek R. Favreau and his significant other, Melissa S. Lavoie of Tewksbury, and Scott M. and his wife Katie (Tauber) Favreau of Dracut; two beloved grandchildren, Ronald W. Favreau and Mackenzie K. …retired Draftsman; 72 TEWKSBURY – John Edward Shields IV, age 72, died peacefully at his Tewksbury home, on Saturday morning, April 23, in the loving care of his family and hospice, after a long and courageous battle with Emphysema. He was born in Malden in August 1943, one of three children of the late Dorothy (Farr) and John E. Shields III, and raised in Tewksbury. He graduated T.M.H.S. with the Class of 1961. John worked as a draftsman for several area companies including Pope, Polaroid, T.A.G. and High Voltage Engineering before his retirement. He was a member of the Rocky Club in Lawrence, and enjoyed all New England’s sports teams, especially the Red Sox. He leaves four children, Kathleen Murphy and her husband Robert, John E. Shields V and his wife Karla (Tibbitts), all of Billerica, Barbara J. Barnaby and her husband Thomas, and Randy Allen Shields all of Tewksbury; a brother, Richard C.
